Burnt MC College dorm reopens Oct 1

The dormitory of MC College in Sylhet will be reopened for the students on October 1 this year, nearly four years after the fire incident that burnt it severely. Nitai Chandra, principle of the college, said some 244 students of the college have been selected for accommodation in the dormitory in accordance with their merit. The students will start living in the residential hall on October 1, the principle added. In 2012, a gang of miscreants torched the dormitory after a clash between leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League and Islami Chhatra Shibir. Some 42 rooms of the three blocks of the dormitory were burnt completely while some others were partially damaged. On December 5, 2012, Finance Minister AMA Muhith and Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid inaugurated the renovation work of the dormitory involving Tk4.58 crore. Later, the renovation process was completed on October 14, 2014. However, the college authorities could not reopen the hall as Jalalabad Gas Transmission & Distribution System Ltd cut off its gas connection due to Tk nine lakh outstanding bill.
View exchange meet on Anti-Corruption held at Gafargaon

 A view exchange meeting on Anti-corruption was held at Satota Songo of Gafargaon J.M.Fazil Madrasa at Gafargaon Upazila in Mymensingh on Wednesday. Taking oath against Anti-corruption among students, teachers, members of governing body with upazila Anti-corruption committee started the day’s programme.. Md Ataur Rahman. Principal of Gafargaon J.M.Fazil Madrasa presided over the meeting. Dr,K.M.Ehsan, president of upazila Anti-corruption committee was the chief guest in the oath and view exchange meeting. Md.Rafiqul Bashar ,Vice President of Upazila Anti-corruption Committee, presented the meeting. Golam Mahmud Faroki Memmber of Anti-corruption Committee , Lecturer Md.Atiqur Rahman of J.M.Fazil Madrasa, Lecturer Pritikona Pal and Principal Md. Ataur Rahman delivered their speeches to create awareness about Anti-corruption in the meeting.
Allegation of snatching of money by Jhenaidah outpost cops

Allegation of snatching money by the in-charge and a constable of a police out post in Sailkupa of Jhenaidah was brought by a mobile phone mechanic. The allegation was addressed to the upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) . The UNO having the allegation had sent it to the officer in charge of the police station for taking necessary steps. Raju Ahmed of village Fazelpur, a mobile phone mechanic in Sailkupa in his petition said, a plain cloth police man of Tamaltala police out post under Kancherkole union of Sailkupa upazila stopped him near the local Bazer when he was marching towards Kushtia town for business purposes on September 19. The police man said, he (Raju ) was involved in forged money trading and taken to Tamaltala police outpost. The constable along with the in-charge of the police out post sub inspector Anwar Hossain snatched his mobile phone and cash Taka 10 thousand he was carrying.

Later the matter was informed to the upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) of Sailkupa. The UNO had forwarded the allegation to the OC for investigation.
Assistant superintendent of police in Jhenaidah Sadar circle Gopinath Kanzilal when contacted said, he was informed about the allegation.
Necessary steps will be taken against the guilty if it was proved in the investigation, ASP said.
When contacted, UNO Didarul Alam acknowledged the matter and said, as the issue was about the police, he sent the allegation to the OC of Sailkupa police station for their necessary steps in this regard.
