Warrant of arrest against 3 including ASI of Jhenaidah

The additional chief judicial magistrate court on Tuesday issued an warrant of arrest against three persons including an assistant sub- inspector of Jhenaidah police station for their alleged involvement in picking up a villager and harassing him without any specific charge. The case in brief was the police man Arif had picked up some Ashir Uddin, son of Golap Malitha of Shakharidah village of Harinakundu upazila in Jhenaidah. The petitioner said, the police ASI Arif in plain cloth at Paglakanai area had picked up him in an easy bike on September 11 being instigated by Rehena Khatun, wife of Milon Rahman of Paglakanai area in Jhenaidah town and Asmaul Hussain, son of Malek Mandal of Lakkhipur village of Harinakundu upazila following a loan they had received from an NGO a few months back. The police man taking Ashir Uddin at Jhenaidah Sadar police station tortured him physically and mentally as per the advice of the two others. The police man also claimed money from Ashir Uddin to release him.
Homeopath killed in Fakirhat road mishap

One person was killed on the and another was injured when they were run over by a BRTC passenger bus on Fakirhat-Mawa Highway in front of Khan Feeling Station under Fakirhat Upazila in Bagerhat on Sunday. The deceased was identified as a Homeopathic physician named Arifur Rahman (42), son of one Rais Uddin of village Kartikdia within Baraipara Union Parishad under Sadar Upazila in Bagerhat district. He had a Homeopathic Pharmacy in Jatrapur bazar under the same Upazila. The injured person was identified as Hakim Morol (63) of village Arpara within the same Union Parishad. He was the father-in-law of the deceased. It is learnt from Abdul Mannan Faraji, Officer-in-charge of Katakhali (Bagerhat) Highways PS that at the night deceased Arifur Rahman and his father-in-law Hakim Morol were returning home from Khulna by a motor cycle after purchasing some Homeopathic medicines and at about 8 pm when they reached the petrol pump and stopped the cycle for fueling the cycle the killer BRTC speeding passenger bus dashed them violently from their behind and fled away.
