 Lightning kills one in Moulvibazar

Lighting killed man in Debaijugosi village in Sadar Upazila of the district on Sunday around 7am. The deceased was identified as Alomgir Miah, 30, of the village. Police said the lightning struck him when he fishing nears the ponds. On the spot he dead. Contacted, Mushaid Miah, UP member of Amtoil Union confirmed the matter to The New Nation.

Youth killed by train in Moulvibazar

 One youth was killed in a train accident at Vatera village area under Kulaura Upazila of the district Sunday . The victim was identified as Abu Salek, 26 son of Tomij Ali of Belkuna village of the district. Source said, Vatera rail line bound Intercity Paharika express train from inside the gate crushed her under its wheels when she was crossing the rail track at around 6pm. Injured admitted Sylhet Osmani Medical Hospital then doctor declared him dead. Abdul Ahad Khan, officer-in-charge of Kulaura GRP Railway Police Station confirmed the matter to The New NMation. He said, on the information railway recovered the body and rushed to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital morgue for apostrophe.

FP advocacy workshop held at Kishoreanj

Family Planning Directorate organised an advocacy meeting with journalists on small family, nutrition, save delivery, ANC, PNC and newly baby nursing at Kishoreganj Circuit House conference room on Sunday. Deputy Director of Family Planning, Kishoreganj District Dr. Habibur Rahman presided over the workshop. Zila Parishad Administrator Adv Md. Zillur Rahman attended as Chief Guest. Civil Surgeon Dr. Mrinal Kanti Das and ADC (Gen) Md. Jamil Ahmed attended as special guest. It was addressed among others by family planning specialist Lutfur Rahman, Dr Roshon Akter Jahan, Dr Hosna Ara, Press Club President A.K Nasim Khan, Senior Journalist Alam Sarowar Tito, District Press Club President Mustafa Kamal, Alamgir Shahjahan Reza, Adv Sheikh Mashud Iqbal and Adv Nazrul Islam Nuru.

Barisal BNP observes agitation programme

The north and south units of district BNP observed central programme on Monday morning in the city, but law enforcers disbursed and barred them to hold procession on roads.The district (south) unit of BNP help agitation rally in front of party office at Ashwini Kumar Hall premises at 10:00 AM. The programme was presided over by Ebaidul Huq Chan, district (south) BNP president and addressed by the leaders of district, upazila and front organizations of BNP. After the rally, when the BNP leaders and activists tried to bring out agitation procession on city roads, police barred and forced them to be disbursed. On other hand Barisal district (north) BNP held a agitation rally at 11:00 AM on Girjamahalla-Sadar Road crossing presided over by Mezbahuddin Farhad, president district (north) BNP and addressed among others by Akan Kuddusur Rahman, secretary , Syed Rafikul Islam Labu, vice president, Asaduzzaman Mukta, leader of the unit.

6 Jamaat-Shibir men held in C’nawabganj

Joint force in overnight drive arrested six activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir from Shibganj and Sadar upazilas early Tuesday Police said a team of the joint force, comprising members of police, Rapid Action Battalion and Border Guard Bangladesh, conducted the drive in different areas of Sadar and Shibganj upazilas of the district from Monday midnight to early Tuesday and arrested the six. Of the arrestees, five hail from Sadar upazila and one from Shibganj upazila.
Officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station Jasim Uddin said the arrested people were accused of different cases.
