Two held on charge of kidnapping attempt

Police of Chitalmari PS in Bagerhat district arrested two young men on the charge of kidnapping a teen aged girl and attempt commit rape on her. The arrested persons are Barkot Shaikh (32), son of one late Sobhan Shaikh of village Chigari under Chitalmari Upazila and Mehedi Hasan, son of one Eunus Shaikh of the dame village. Police and the locals said that on Wednesday evening a teen aged girl went to Mochondapur village market under the Upazila to purchase medicines. At that time 3 young men appeared there, kidnapped the girl, took her to a lonely place of the adjacent village Rajnagar where they tried to commit rape on her forcibly. Then the girl made a hue and cry. On hearing the cry as soon as some locals rushed to the spot the miscreants fled away. Being informed of the matter Police of Chitalmari PS reached the spot quickly and recovered the girl from there. Police raided the area and arrested 2 young men suspecting their involvement.

Gafargaon -85′ Social Organization formed a new Executive Committee recently. Gafarfaon -85′ social organisation organiesd a get together in a general meeting and Eid re-union recently. After a discussion meeting the general members of the organization formed an Executive Committee. The first phase of the meeting was chaired by Md. Abdul Hamid Bachhu, President of Gafargaon-85’Social organization and presented by Arshad Ahmed Asad, General Secretary of Gafargaon-85′ Social Organization. This organisation has been appreciated by local administration and people of all walks of life in participating in Socio-economic activities, Social welfare activities, anti-corruption, Rally, Human-chain against militancy and terrorism, anarchy, addiction, and has celebrated the National and International Day, Pohela Baishakh , 21st February, 26th March, 16th December. It is the motto of Gafargaon -85′ Social Organization to help friends, to help the affected people, to do welfare of mankind in the society , to give away scholarship among the meritorious students, to create awareness among young generation about the negative effect in our society. After long discussion and negotiations Md. Abdul Hamid Bachhu was selected President, Senior Vice-president Dr. Mukhlesur Rahman Golap, Vice-president Advocate A.B.M. Munim Roman, Arshad Ahmed Asad, General Secretary and Dhali Zobaer Ibn-Shams, joint-secretary . The other members are Shree Anil Roy,Treasurer, Md. Mukhlesur Rahman Manik, Organizing Secretary, Md. Siddik Hossain Kanchon, Sports and cultural secretary, Md. Azizur Rahman Abdullah, Portfolio and Circulation secretary. The honourable members are Masud Parves Yusuf, S.M.Wahiduzzaman, Md.Monirul Hoque, Md. Jalal Uddin, Md. Saiful Islam (Khuku), and Md. Mufazzal Hossain Bachhu.
Udichi programmes suspended for two hours as UNO imposed bar

The fourth bi-anneal conference of Bangladesh Udichi Shilpi Goshthi of Sailkupa upazila unit in Jhenaidah was suspended for over two hours on Friday when the local upazila nirbahi officer had imposed ban on performing any programme at Sailkupa upazila central Shahid Minar. At last amid a chaos the organisers started the programme. Udichi Sailkupa upazila unit president KM Sahirul Islam and a senior activist of the Udichi Mostafa Ruhul Amin Chand said, they arranged the fourth bi-anneal conference of the Udich Sailkupa upazila unit at Sailkupa upazila central Shahid Minar premises scheduled at 9.00 am on Friday. They informed the local upazila nirbahi officer seeking his cooperation on Thursday. But immediate before the starting of the programme, some police men led by a sub inspector advised to stop the programme until and unless they sit for a “compromise” with the UNO.
