Habiganj clash leaves one dead, injures 20

A man was killed and 20 others were injured in a clash between two rival groups at Shyampur village in Bahubal upazila of Habiganj district on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Ankur Sutradhar, son of Krishna Siutradhar of the same area, according to a news agency report. Police said the clash erupted in the morning between two rival groups of villagers over a disputed land. As a sequel to enmity, both the groups equipped with local weapons attacked each other, leaving 21 people injured. Among the injured seven were sent to Habiganj Sadar Hospital where Ankur succumbed to his injuries. The others injured were admitted to Bahubal upazila health complex. Mollah Minir Hossain, officer-in-charge of Bahubal Police Station said, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
Hilsa treading up in Barisal

Hilsa trading is going on in full swing in the district as the fishermen are catching a huge number of fish in the district. “Around 1,20,000 kgs of Hilsas are sold in the Barisal Ghat,” Ali Asraf, President of the Barisal Fish Wholesalers Association, told BSS. The prices of the fishes have come down, he added. “On Friday, 40 kgs of Hilsas weighting one kg per piece,were sold at Taka 40 thousands, but on Saturday it was 38 thousands,” he added. Ali Ashraf said production of Hilsa has been increased several times this year as the government has implemented the Hilsa protection law properly. Zafor Ahmed, a customer of Hilsa, said, “I could not buy Hilsa earlier due to high price but now I can buy Hilsa as prices have come down.”
2 held with 1,500 bottles of Phensidyl
Chapainawabganj: Police arrested two alleged drug peddlers along with 1,500 bottles of Indian Phensidyl syrup from Noyagola Uttar Bhabanipur area in Sadar upazila on Saturday. The arrestees were identified as Sentu,42, son of Shafiq, a resident of Jatrabari in Dhaka’s Rasulpur Dania area, and Farid,27, son of Taher Miah, a resident of Dhaperhat area in Shibchar upazila of Madaripur district. Officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station Majharul Islam said tipped off, a team of police launched a drive in the area and intercepted a covered van at about 6am. The law enforcers recovered 1,500 bottles of Indian Phensidyl syrup from the vehicle and arrested the duo. A case was filed in this connection, reports UNB.
1,600 flood-hit farmers to get incentive in Pirojpur
PIROJPUR: A total of 1,600 flood-hit farmers will get cash incentives of Taka over 16 lakh to buy seeds and fertilizers for the cultivation of mungbean, maize in the current season of the district. The farmers will get cost-free seeds, Di-ammonium Phosphate (DAP) and Muriate of Potash (MoP) for cultivating maize, mungbean under the programme. Each of the interested farmers will get Taka 1,290 for maize farming. On the other hand, farmers who intend to cultivate mungbean get five kilograms seeds, 10-kg DAP, 10-kg MOP fertilizer for this purpose. Arun Ray, deputy assistant officer of Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE), said the distribution process of incentives will start very soon and hope it will be fair, reports BSS.
