Young man held with Yaba in Mollahat

A young man (25) named Riaz Gazi (25) was arrested along with 7 thousand pieces of Yaba tablets by a team of DB police of Bagerhat from Joydihi bus stand-Mor (squire) under Mollahat Upazila in Bagerhat district on Monday afternoon. The arrestee is the son of one Ayub Ali Gazi of Joydihi village. In this connection a case was registered with Mollahat PS by Iqbal Hossain, SI of Bagerhat DB police against Riaz Gazi under Narcotics Act on the same day. Md. Yunus Ali, Officer-in-charge of Bagerhat district DB police disclosed to the newsmen, acting on secret information that a big dispatch of drug is ready to be sent to else where from Mollahat the DB police raided Joydihi bus stand-Mor and arrested Riaz Gazi from there and recovered 7 thousand pieces of Yaba tablets from his bag.
Tree Fair begins in Mymensingh
 MYMENSINGH : A three-day long tree fair-2016 began in Muktagacha upazila of the district on Sunday. Member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Information, Salahuddin Ahmed Mukti, inaugurated it as chief guest. UNO of Muktagacha upazila Zulkar Nayon presided over the function. Upazila Chairman Zakaria Harun, Vice-chairman Golam Shariar Sharif, Upazila Agriculture Officer Nargis Akhtar, former Mayor of Muktagacha Pourshava Abdul Hye Akandh and President of Upazila Nursery Association Md Sulaiman spoke on the occasion. Earlier, the chief guest visited different stalls. A total of 23 stalls have been set up in the fair, reports BSS.
Safety Net Progs give new life to widows
NAOGAON: More than Tk 13 crore have been distributed among nearly 29 thousands widows and divorced women in 11 upazilas of the district during the last fiscal year (2015-2016). Assistant director of Department of Social Welfare SM Jobaidul Islam said an additional 2,382 distressed women were given money along with the regular 26,107 women in the last fiscal year. Sources said each distressed woman got Tk 400 each month. Deputy Commissioner of Naogaon Dr. Md Aminur Rahman told BSS that Widows and distressed women who got money have found a new meaning of life in the programme, reports BSS.
ICT training for women entrepreneurs

A 3-day long training on Information, Communication and Technologies (ICT) for third batch of women entrepreneurs started at the computer lab of Polly Daridra Bimochan Foundation, Barisal divisional office on Monday. Center on Budget and Policy of Dhaka University organised the programme funded by The Asia Foundation for promoting women entrepreneurships through innovative use of ICT tools. Twenty-five women entrepreneurs and their female associates participating in the 3rd-batch of the training course arranged by District Women Business Forum (DWBF) Barisal. The inaugurating session of the course was presided over by Dr. Banolata Murshida, president DWBF. Anisur Rahman Swapan, Barisal Reporters Unity president, was chief guest of the inaugural session. Rebeka Sultana, Nadia Shikdar, Fatema Aktar Jolly, Sonia Aktar, conducting the training course coordinated by Mansura Khanam of DWBF.
The trainees would be awarded certificate after completing the course about basic training on computing, graphics design, Microsoft office design, promoting business, online marketing, internet communication tools, networking and creating groups on social media, advertisement of product etc., organisers said.
