Suicide victim Naima passes HSC

Naima Islam Ishika, dead body of whom recovered from a residential hotel-room on August 10, passed HSC in A-grade. She was an examinee from Syed Hatem Ali College of the city and daughter of Grameen Bank official Ibrahim Khalil. College sources said Nazrul Islam, a teacher of the college on Thursday night going to the house of Ibrahim Khalil at Rajanigandha Villa in Gorosthan Road area of the city, informed the parents about the HSC result of Naima. At that time guardians of Naima breaking in to tears said ‘ it will not bring any joy for us as we could not regain the life of our beloved daughter for any cost ‘. Dead body of Naima hanged from ceiling fan recovered from room no. 309 of residential hotel Fair Star at Falpatty area of the city on August 10. Naima identifying herself as Fahima Islam of Wari Dhaka and Sayem Alam of Narayanganj identifying himself as husband of her rented the room one day before dead body of Naima recovered by police from that room. Police yet not succeeded to find out Sayem and suspected that Naima committed suicide over love affairs.
College student drowns in Meherpur
MEHERPUR: A college student drowned in the River Bhairab in Mujibnagar Upazila of the district yesterday.The victim was identified as Nazmul Hossein, 20, an inhabitant of the village Monakhali. He was a first year student of Mujibnagar Govt. College.Locals said the tragic incident occurred when Nazmul went down the river to bathe near Monakhali Bridge in morning and drowned as he did not know how to swim. Later the local people recovered his body from the river. Officer in charge of Mujibnagar Thana Kazi Kamal Hossein confirmed the incident of drowning, reports BSS.
Phensidyl seized from stone-laden truck, 3 held

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested three drug-paddlers with 892 bottles of phensidyl from a stone-laden truck at Puthiya Bus stand area on Rajshahi-Dhaka highway in the district last night, RAB sources said here yesterday. The arrested persons were identified as Sohel Rana, 26, Lal Mahmud, 40, and Nur Ahmed, 18. On a tip-off, a team of the elite force halted the Dhaka bound truck and recovered the phensidyl after searching it at around 11.30 pm. The operation team also seized the truck containing 458 cubic feet of stone, three mobile sets and Taka 9,117 in cash. A case was recorded with the police station concerned in this connection and the arrested persons along with the seized goods were handed over to police.
Youth commits suicide in Jessore

A young man reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of his room at Chandutia in Sadar upazila of Jessore district on Friday night. The deceased was identified as Dibakar Biswas,19, son of Adityo Biswas, a resident of Uattar Bilpabla village in Dumuria upazila. Sub-inspector of Kotwali Model Police Station Mahabul Islam said Dibakar committed suicide by hanging himself with the ceiling of his room at about 11:30pm. Informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Jessore Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy. The reason behind the suicide could not be known immediately.
