One dies falling from tree in Kurigram

One died of falling from a tree at Phulbari upazila in Kurigram district at 9 am on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Abdul Karim 52 son of Kobot Ali of village Phulmoti under the upazila. Local sources said Abdul Karim climbed in a tree in the morning to collect some branch of tree as fuel. At one stage the branches which he caught was broken and fall on the earth. Locals and his relatives recovered him and were immediately taking to Kurigram sadar in a critical condition but the ill fated man died on the way.
Course on journalism begins in Kurigram

A two- day basic training course on journalism was held in t RDRS conference room of Kurigram at 10 am on Tuesday organised by Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB). Additional Commissioner of Rangpur Narayan Sharma inaugurated the training course as the chief guest while Kurigram Deputy Commissioner ABM Aazad was the special guest. Samiul Haq Nantu presided over the inaugural ceremony.
3 injured in JCD-BCL clash at Barisal

At least three students injured and another eight detained after JCD and BCL activists clashed on Wednesday at Barisal Polytechnic Institute Campus. The injured students were Zahid, Reza, Fahim and among the Zahid admitted at Barisal Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital. Police and student sources said the rivalry over spreading supremacy and control in the campus area, getting the post of class-captaincy and love affairs instigated the clashes from 12:30- 2:00 pm.
Fake mobile court members held in Barisal
Local people nabbed four members of a fake mobile court team in disguise of officials of consumer rights and journalists of television package programme and handed over to police in Barisal on Wednesday. However, the journalist later managed to flee from the police protection. The nabbed four identified themselves as Abdur Rashid, senior inspector , Shariful Islam alias Mithun Shikdar , inspector, Bangladesh Kreta Vokta Odhikar Sangrakkhan Foundation, Md. Haider Khan, Faridpur district Correspondent of Dainik Sonar Alo and A-TV News , Md. Momin, driver of the luxurious microbus (no.Dhaka Metro -Cha- 13-8703).
Buddha Purnima celebrated in Sylhet

Members of the Buddhist community yesterday celebrated their most sacred and largest festival Buddha Purnima in the city and elsewhere in the district with traditional enthusiasm and solemn devotion. Buddhists celebrate the Purnima, the most important day for the followers of Buddhism marking the three significant events, Lord Buddha’s birth, enlightenment and also his attainment of the highest spiritual goals, ‘Nirvana’ respectively in Bodh Gaya and ‘Parinirvana’ (or ‘final cessation’) in Kushinagara of India.

A three- day Rover Scouts annual campaign 2014 of Narsingdi Polytechnic Institute concluded at institute premises on Saturday.Principal of the polytechnic institute and president of the institute’s Rover Scout Group Sushil Kumar Paul formally inaugurated the function.Director general Department of Technical Education and Vice president of Bangladesh Scouts Rover region, Dhaka Mohammad Shajahan Miah attended the Camp firing function on May 9 as chief guest. Secretary of the Bangladesh Scouts Rover region ,Dhaka M. Moniruzzaman was present as special guest.
