 View exchange on Narsundha Lake City Project held

Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operative and Shipping Ministry jointly arranged an view exchange meeting on the Narsundha Lake-City and River dredging project at Kalibari Lake Square in the town on Wednesday evening. Local Government Secretary Md. Abdul Maleke attended as Chief Guest while Deputy Commissioner Md. Azimuddin Biswas in the chair. The President’s Secretary (Bangabhaban Secretary) Shampod Barueua and Shipping Secretary Ashok Madhab Roy were attended as special guest. It was addressed among others by Narsundha Lake City Project Director Engineer Abdus Slam Mondol, Zila Parished Administrator Advocate Zillur Rahman, Poura Mayor Md. Pervaz Miah, Sheikh Selim Kabir, Advocate Sheikh Masud Iqbal and Former Chamber President Md. Badal Rahman. After, Three Secretary of Bangladesh Government visited Itna-Mithamoin-Austragram Hoar project on Wednesday noon.
Truck kills motorcycle rider in Naogaon
NAOGAON: A motorcycle rider was killed as a truck crushed him yesterday night at Boalia intersection on the bypass road of the city. The deceased was identified as Abdul Latif, 38, of the village Boalia under Sadar Upazila. Officer in Charge (OC) of Sadar Thana Md Tariqul Islam said a truck crushed Abdul Latif last night when he was returning home from Santahar Bazar. He died on the spot. The OC also said the angry people torched the truck while its driver and helper fled from the scene after the accident. Assistant Police Super Samiul Alam visited the spot. A case was filed with Naogaon Sadar Model Thana. The body of the victim was sent to Naogaon Sadar Hospital, reports BSS.
Traditional boat race held in Manikganj

A traditional attractive boat race was held in Kantaboti river near Kalta Bazar of Ghior upazila on Thursday. Abdul Kader Biswas, Chairman, Nali Union Parishad was present as the chief guest at the boat race organized by Kalta Bazar Committee. Abul Kashem Biswas, former Chairman, Nali Union Parishad and Abdul Kuddus Madhu, President, Nali Union Awami League were present as the special guests. Thousands of people enjoyed the colourful boat race participated by 50 boats from different upazilas and it was the 60th boat race organized in the area.
Motorcyclist killed after a tree fell on his bike in Rangpur

A motorcyclist was killed on the spot after a tree fell on his running motorbike at Munshirhat point on the Rangpur-Badarganj road under Sadar upazila here yesterday afternoon, police sources said. The deceased was identified as Sajibur Rahman, 26, son of Shahidar Rahman of nearby Paschim Khoriarhat village under Sadar upazila in the district. The accident occurred when some people engaged by a person of the area were cutting the roadside tree that fell on the running motorcycle of Sajibur killing him on the spot. Being informed, police forces from Kotwali Thana rushed to the spot, recovered the body and sent it for conducting autopsy at Rangpur Medical College Hospital morgue this afternoon.
Jute warehouse gutted in Rajshahi
RAJSHAHI: A fire broke out at a jute warehouse at Nauhata in Airport area of Sadar upazila on Friday. Fire service sources said the fire originated from an electric short circuit at the jute warehouse, owned by Fazal Hossain, around 9am and spread soon. Huge jute, pesticides and maize kept inside the warehouse were gutted in the fire, said Fazal. On information, two firefighting units rushed in and extinguished the flame, reports UNB.
