Barisal-Dhaka highway blocked for two hours

A school boy was killed in morning and vehicular movement on Barisal-Dhaka highway blocked for two hours at afternoon after a covered van turned upside down on the highway Saturday. Ashok Kumar, sub inspector of Gournadi highway police station, said Iqbal Hossain Nirob, 8, son of Idris Sardar from Bejgati and student of class-two at Katakshthal primary school under Gournadi municipality, injured by a hit of a Barisal bound truck (dhaka-metro-ta-11-4539) on way to school Saturday morning. Nirob died on way to Barisal Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital and his dead body preserved at morgue for autopsy, police sources said. Police detained the truck and arrested driver Goutam Roy, 35, and lodged a case with Gournadi highway police station on Saturday afternoon. On other hand a covered van of Akij Group turned upside down on the highway at Batajore area about 1:30 PM Saturday noon.
Woman killed in Bagerhat

Geeta Das, wife of one late Gobindo Das was killed on the spot when a big Rain tree was uprooted and fell on her thatched dwelling house at Chulkathi Bazar within Khanpur Union under Sadar Upazila in Bagerhat Dictrict on Tuesday as a gusty wind accompanied with torrential rain swept over the area. Sharif Nazrul Islam, Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Bagerhat Sadar Upazila, Akhtaruzzaman Baschu, President of Bagerhat Upazila unit of Bangladesh Awami League and UP Chairman of Saitgumbaz, Fakir Fahamuddin, UP Chirman of Khanpur and Executive Engineer of Roads and Highways, Bagerhat visited the place of occurrence on Wednesday in the morning. The UNO and the concerned UP Chirman donated a sum of Tk.20 thousand and Tk 2 thousand respectively to the members of the bereaved family.
Militant arrested in Sherpur

A militant of Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) arrested at Chakpara village in Jhenaigati upazila of Sherpur district onb Saturday night. The arrestee was identified as Sajedul Islam alias Abu Sayed alias Saddam (28) son of Md Jamal Uddin at Chakpa village in Jhenaigati upazila of the district. Sources and police said Sajedul hid himself in Gazipur for long. On secrete information Jhenaigati thana police raided Chakpara and arrested the millitant. Millitant Sajedul used different names at diffirent plaecs. Sajedul was the close associate of JMB leaders Shaikh Abdur Rahman and Siddiqur Rahman alias Bangla Bhai.Officer in charge of Jhenaigati thana Md Mizanur Rahman confirmed about it.
Gathering on the occasion of video conference held

A gathering organized by Polash Upazila administration at its auditorium on the occasion the inaugural of 100 percent electrification of Polash upazila (118 Village) and other five upazilas of the country by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina through video conference on Saturday. State Minister for Water Resources Lt Col (Retd) Nazrul Islan Hiro (Bir pratik) addressed in the gathering as chief guest while it was presided over by the Deputy Commissioner of Narsingdi Abu Hena Morshed Zaman. Local Parliament members Nurul Mojid Mahamud Humayian, Kamrul Ashraf khan Potan and former MP Anwaral Ashraf Khan Dilip also addressed in the gathering .
