Police of Shibganj thana arrested two persons with two pistols, four magazines and 110 rounds of bullet from Lucky Cinema Hall square under Shibganj municipality in Chapainawabganj district on Tuesday evening. The arrested persons have been identified as Kabil, 19, son of Asumuddin of Amtala village under Durlavpur union of Chapainawabganj district and Asadul Islam, 20, son of Abdur Rashid Molla of Charshashua village under Bhuapur upazila in Tangail district. OC of Shibganj thana Ramzan Ali said, police on secret information that arms and ammunition are being transacted, raided Lucky Cinema Hall square at around 6-30 pm and arrested the aforesaid two persons with the arms and ammunition. Upto filing this report, recording a case was under process.
Workshop on women empowerment held in Jessore

A workshop on women empowerment under feed the future Bangladesh women’s empowerment activity project was held at Jessore Press Club on Tuesday. Dhaka Ahsania Mission arranged the workshop in association with WINROCK and funded by USAID. Parvez Hasan, additional deputy commissioner, education and ICT, Jessore was the chief guest at the workshop. Chaired by Zeba Afroza, project coordinator, feed the future Bangladesh women’s empowerment activity, the workshop was addressed among others by Jahid Hasan Tukun, president, Jessore Press Club, Mobinul Islam Bobin, editor, Daily Gramer Kagoj, Farazi Ahmed Sayeed Bulbul, Saifur Rahman Saif and Nitai Chandra Roy.
177 pieces Yaba tablets seized in Sylhet

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested a drug trader with 177 pieces Yaba tablets from a drug trader in Dakshin Surma upazila on Saturday.The arrestee is Juned Ahmed, 24, son of Late Akbar Ali of Pashchim Rayergaon in Sylhet.Acting on a tip-off, a team of Rab-9 intercepted technical road in the afternoon and arrested the drug trader Juned Ahmed with the 177 Pieces Yaba.A case was filed in this connection, said Ataur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Dakshin Surma Police Station.
Human chain against militancy, terrorism at Gafargaon

Alim Ulama Samity has arranged a discussion meeting, human chain and rally against militancy and terrorism to create awareness among the people in Federation Field at Gafargaon under Mymensingh on Sunday morning. It is learnt that Imam and Alim of 15 Union and Pourosova have come to gather in Gafargaon Federation Field from 9 am. A discussion meeting was held at 10-30 am. by Gafargaon Alim Ulama Samity.Hafej Nurul Islam presided over the brief discussion meeting. Maolana Hadiul Islam, Vice-President of Alim Ulama somite, General Secretary -Maolana Salmani, Hafej Maolana Moniruzzaman delivered their speeches to create awareness among young generation.
