School teacher killed in road crash in Jhenidah

An assistant teacher of Kola United Secondary School was killed in a road crash at Khalkula village area on Kola-Kaligonj road under Kaligonj upazila in Jhenidah on Monday night. The deceased was identified as Mahadi Hasan Milton, 32 son of Khalek Molla of Pariat village under the upazila. He was an assistant teacher of Kola United Secondary School of the upazila.Officer- In-Charge (OC) Anwar Hossain of Kaligonj police station said, at around 5:00 pm on Monday afternoon Milton was going Kola Bazar from his house riding on a human huller.
3 high officials sent to jail

A trial court in Patuakhali on Monday sent one deputy secretary, one former deputy secretary and a former officer of civil surgeon office to jail as accused in a cased lodged by Anti Corruption Commission for misappropriating Tk 35.65 lakhs. The jailed accused were Alaul Huq, the then senior assistant secretary of health ministry and present deputy secretary of public administration ministry, Abdul Mannan, former deputy secretary of finance ministry, Abdul Awal, former accountant of district civil surgeon office. Bimal Chandra Shikdar, district and session judge of Patuakhali, rejecting bail prayers of the appeared those three accused ordered to send them to the jail.
Freshers’ reception at RU

Child drowns in Kurigram

One child was drowned in a pond in Kurigram collage para under Kurigram municipality area at noon on Sunday.The deceased was identified as Hasan (04) son of Abdul Mannan a rickshaw puller in Kurigram College para area of the district.
Police and family sources said when the child was playing by the side of a pond near his house and at one stage he slipped over and fell down in the pond and drowned. Later his parents and relatives recovered the dead body of the baby from the pond.
Rapist arrested in Savar

Police arrested a rapists and killer in a connection with raping and killing of a 6-year old child Bristy Akter from Akran area of Birulia union of Savar on Monday morning. The arrestee was identified as Selim, 26, son of Kobir uddin of Tona area of Pirozur district. He was lived a rented house of Hazi Boshir uddin of Akran area. Victim’s father, rickshaw puller, Golam Azom said, we and Selim were lived at a same ranted house. On Sunday evening to hear missing of my 6 year’s child Bristy, I come at home stopping pulled rickshaw. At the time Selim also searched Bristy with us. After at 12 p.m we found Bristy’s dead body from a corn field beside ur house in assistance of Selim. Arrestee Selim also confessed his involvement with rape and murder to police and said that on Sunday after evening he called trickly Bristy and raped after binding her hand and foot. After killing, he threw deceased body into window of his room inside a corn field. Saidur Rahman, Sub-inspector of Savar police station confirmed the matter and said a case was filed in this connection with Savar police station and arrestee has been sent to court.
