 Abducted girl rescued in Borolekha

Police on early Sunday rescued a minor girl, who was abducted from Borolekha Upazila in Moulvibazar, from Tikerpara area in the Bianibazar Upazila of Sylhet . The rescued girl was identified as Kulsuma Begum, 12 daughter of Islam Miah of Dojgiri village in Borolekha Upazila. The police also arrested alleged abductor-Sihab Ahmed, 30 son of Wahid Uddin of Tikerpara area under Bianibazar Upazila of Sylhet district. Police arrested him from Asulia area in the capital. Police sources told this correspondent that Sihab kidnapped Kulsuma from her house on Thursday. He took the girl for sexual abuse. Following a tip-off, a police team raided the Tikerpara area in the Bianibazar Upazila around 4:00am and recued girl.
Free medicare service in Netrakona

A 12-member medical team headed by senior specialist physician Prof Dr Anwarul Haque rendered day-long medicare service in the storm-hit areas under Kalmakanda upazila of Netrakona district recently.The medical team arrived there from Dhaka and rendered Medicare service there at free of cost under the supervision of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman Foundation, a leader of the foundation and prominent lawyer Barrister Kaiser Kamal told newsmen here today.
The medical team also distributed medicines among the storm-affected people in the areas at free of cost, Barrister Kaiser said adding that the medical team conducted the health-care service at the directives of the BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia. Mentionable that number of nine people were killed and several hundreds were injured in five upazilas including Kalmakanda upazila under Netrakona district on May 27 last following a severe storm.
Red Cross Day observed at Kishoreganj

The World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day was observed in Kishoreganj district in a befitting manner on Thursday. Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, Kishoreganj Unit arranged a colourful rally, guard of honour, documentary film, food distribution, discussion to marking the Day.A discussion meeting held at Zila Shilpakola Academy Hall. State Minister for Labour, Manpower & Employment Advocate Muzibul Hoque Chunnu M.P was attended as chief guest. Acting Chairman of Kishoreganj Red Crescent Unit and Zila Parishad Administrator Adv Zillur Rahman Prised over the meeting. It was addressed among others by Anuwarul Abedin Khan Thuin M.P , Dilara Begum Asma M.P, D.C S.M Alam, Police Super Anwar Hossain Khan, Kishoreganj Unit Secretary Lutfor Rahman Chowdhury Helal, Special P.P Adv M.A Afzol, Freedom Fighter Anowar Kamal and Bilkis Begum.
4th Int’l Rice Mill Tech Expo begins in Dinajpur

 The 4th International Rice Mill Technology Expo, a two daylong fair of machineries and equipments for agriculture industry kicked off here in Dinajpur on Saturday morning. M. Iqbalur Rahim lawmaker of Dinajpur and Whip of Jatiya Sangsad (JS) as chief guest inaugurated the fair at Dinajpur Station Club complex on Saturday morning organized by Dinajpur Rice Mill Owners group. Ahmed Shamim Al Razi Deputy Commissioner of Dinajpur, Ruhul Amin Superintendent of Police in Dinajpur and Abdul Kadir officer of District Food control department were present as special guests. Different companies of 6 countries including India, Korea, China, Japan, Switzerland and Bangladesh took part in the two daylong expo to display their technologies.

There were 40 stalls setup in the fair.
The fair drew huge criticism as Reza Humayun Chowdhury Shamim, General Secretary of Dinajpur Rice Mill Owner Group, being a elite organization in Dinajpur appealed to Dinajpur commissioner to grant a piece of land to them for building their office.
In reply, Md. Ahmed Shamim Al Razi Deputy Commissioner of Dinajpur in his speech surprised with appeal saying that its unfortunate that an organization of billionaires want government help for their office.
The DC observed that the organization can purchase the land for their office if they want.
However, Js whip and lawmaker of Dinajpur pledged them to allocate land under government rate.
There are around 70 automatic rice mills in Dinajpur, according to the organization.
