6 Shibirmen held with cocktails in Nachole

Police of Nachole thana in a drive arrested six leaders and activists of Islami Chatra Shibir (ICS), student wing of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami with six cocktails and Jihadi books from Chandipur Alim Madrasha under Nachole upazila in Chapainawabganj district on Thursday night. The arrested persons have been identified as Kosba union president of ICS Abdul Wadud Shishir alias Sweet, 20, 7 No. ward secretary Mobarak Hossain Mitul, 19, ICS leader Ruhul Amin, 20, Kosba union assistant treasurer Latifur Rahman, 19, Isahak Ali, 20 and Faisal,19. OC of Nachole thana Fasir Uddin said, acting on secret information, police from Nachole thana raided the aforesaid madrasha at around 8-30 pm and held them with the cocktails.

Minor girl drowns in Sylhet

A minor girl drowned in a pond at Chattigar village in Dakshin Surma upazila on Tuesday afternoon. The deceased was identified as Nusrat Jannat Ema, 18 month, son of Kacha Mia, a resident of Chattigar village. Locals said Ema playing at home ground area to in the morning on Tuesday. At one stage, he slipped into the pond adjacent to the house while playing near its bank around 11am.Later, his family members recovered the body from the pond after a frantic search around 4pm.Chairman of the Moglabazar Union Parishad confirmed the matter.

Two Shibirmen wounded in firing in police custody

Two leaders of Islami Chhatra Shibir, student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami were rushed to Jessore General Hospital after being wounded in firing while they were under police custody at Chaugachha in Jessore on Thursday night. The bullet -hit Shibir men are Israfil Hossain, 20, secretary, Chaugachha upazila unit of the student organization and Ruhul Amin, 19, literary affairs secretary of the same unit of the organsation. Moshiur Rahman, officer in-charge, Chaugachha police station claimed that the two received bullet wounds in police firing after being bombed by the two as the police tried to stop motorbike riders at Bundalitala under Chaugachha upazila at around 9pm on Thursday.

30 hurt in dog biting

MUNSHIGANJ : At least 30 people, including four children, were severely injured as a rabid dog bit them while prowling around a number of villages in Sirajdikhan upazila on Tuesday night. Of the injured, Rabin,17, Rubel Hossain,3, Hosne Ara,40, Babu,2, Anis,12, Alam,8, Jasim,8, Awlad,35, Aroti Dhor,30, Rubina,9, and Jamal Sheikh,18, were taken to Mohakhali Infectious Disease Hospital in Dhaka while others were admitted to different local hospitals, including Sadar Hospital. Confirming the incident, Sirajdikhan upazila health complex official Doctor Dulal Hossain said the mad dog bit 30 people in Gorapipara, Furshail, Boiragadi, Malkhanagar and Fegunasa villages at night, reports UNB.

‘Terrorist’ held with firearm, bullets in Rajbari
RAJBARI: Police arrested an alleged terrorist along with a revolver and three rounds of bullet from Kachrondopur in Sadar upazila on Wednesday.The arrestee was identified as Jonny Molla,26, son of Kamal Molla, a resident of Char Kachrondopur village in Goalanda upazila.Kamal Hossain, sub-inspector of the Detective Branch (DB) of police, said tipped off, a team of DB police and Sadar thana police jointly conducted a drive in the area and arrested Jonny at about 4:00pm, reports UNB.
