Narsingdi police held a press conference at police Super office conference room with police Super Narsingdi Dr. Khandaker Mohid Uddin in the chair Thursday. The police Super informed the journalists that after long 60 hours conducted expedition in Narsingdi,Kishorganj,, Commila and Gajipur district the Narsingdi police led by Additional Police Super (crime) Shanawaj Khaled, Additional Police Super(DSB) Moklesur Rahmanan and police Inspector (Investigation) Biplab Kumar Datta arrested 11 dacoits and recovered the part of looted 303 rifle, gold ornaments, seven mobile , two torch light and cash taka 6700 and seized a private car no- chatta-matro-gha-11-2547,for using in the dacoity, Police also recovered , one cutter. two knife, one Chapati, one toy pistal in connection with the case of dacoity at Polli Biduit Samity office -2 at Morjal of Raipura Upazila and its adjoining two residents of two officers of the samity on seven january..
Man found dead in Sylhet

The police recovered the body of a man from a pond in Sylhet city recently. The deceased was Sohel Ahmed Babu, 25, son of Mujibur Rahman, and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver of the city. Shah Paran police officer-in-charge Shiben Chandra Das said the police recovered the body from the city’s Lamapara area at about 5:00pm being informed by local people. Miscreants might have strangled the victim to death and dumped the body in the pond, he added.
Tea garden manager stabbed, 5 held
A man was stabbed by miscreants in the city’s Kumargaon area Wednesday night. The victim was Zunayed Chowdhury, manager of Fatehpur Teagarden under Goainghat upazila. The police, said a group of miscreants, led by Fatehpur chairman Babrul Hossain Babul, attacked Zunayed following an incident of tree trafficking from the garden in the afternoon. The victim was sent to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital immediately and later was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Goainghat police officer-in-charge Shafiqur Rahman Khan said the police arrested the accused chairman and four others in this connection.
Eight jailed for one month in Lalmonirhat

A mobile court convicted eight persons, including five women, and sentenced them to one month jail each for obscene performance in a dance show in remote char area in Sadar Upazila here on Tuesday. The convicted were identified as Jhumur Begum, 30, Ratna Begum, 27, Rani Begum, 20, Sumi Akhtar, 18, Labonee Begum, 25, Mofazzol Hossain, 45, Moksed Islam, 36 and Ostara Miah, 43 of Balobari village of Dinajpur district. Police arrested them from the dance show, which was arranged without permission of district administration, said officer in charge of Sadar Thana M Jamiruddin.
Smuggled goods, drugs seized by BGB
CHUADANGA:A team of BGB personnel seized huge quantity of Indian smuggled goods worth about Taka 24.28 lakh Monday night.The 6th battalion members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) recovered the smuggled goods from the two frontier villages of Nastipur and Ishwar Chandrapur under Damurhuda upazila of the district and Jabla Bazar of Magura district.But none was arrested in this connection.The seized smuggled goods include various kinds of kitchen appliances, shoes, caps, phensidyl, wines and cannabis. All smuggled goods were found in abandoned condition. Cases were recorded with police stations concerned, the BGB sources said, reports BSS.
