Ashiquzzaman Khan and his wife Muna Sarker, whose respiratory tracks have been damaged by the fire at a chemical warehouse in city’s Armanitola early Friday, have been put on life support as condition deteriorated.
Dr Samanta Lal Sen, chief coordinator of Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, informed this on Saturday noon.
The couple got married one-and-a-half-month ago. Muna is the student of
Jagannath University and Ashiquzzaman is a student of BUET. Ashiquzzaman came to his in-laws house at Armanitola on Wednesday night.
The condition of other two, who are undergoing treatment at the ICU, are very critical, Samanta Lal said.
Twenty-one injured have been admitted to the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
Of them, three males and a female have been shifted to the ICU in a critical condition while the rest 16 admitted to different wards.
One injured, Mostafa, left hospital after taking treatment, Dr Samanta Lal Sen, informed.
A fire broke out at the ground floor of a six-storey ‘Haji Musa Mansion’ near Babu Bazar Bridge in city’s old part around 3:18am on Friday that left four dead and 21 injured.
Police, however, filed a case against the owners of ‘Haji Musa Mansion’ and the owner of chemical warehouse at night.
