A newly elected Union Parishad (UP) member was killed as a truck hit his bicycle in Rohonpur Dhulauri area of Gomostopur upazila on Monday morning. The deceased was identified as Sadikul Islam, son of Danesh Ali, a resident of Bhagolpur village and newly elected member of ward no. 8 of Rohonpur UP. Golam Mortaza, officer-in-charge of Gomostopur Police Station, said the accident took place in the area as the truck hit his bicycle on Rohonpur- Adda road in the area around 9am, leaving him critically injured. Later, he was rushed to Gomostopur upazila health complex where doctors declared him dead. Police seized the truck but the driver managed to flee away. — Chapainawabganj, Apr 25 (UNB)
