Police arrested a newly-elected union parishad member and his associate along with a revolver and five round bullets from Shenbagh Laxmikol village in Naldanga upazila early Sunday.
The arrestees were identified as Suruj Al, 35, a member of 2 no ward of Piprul union in the upazila, and his associate Sirajul Islam.
Subir Datta, officer-inc-charge of Naldanga Police Station, said after the union parishad election, Suruj used to threat family members of Nabir Uddin Sheikh, a defeated candidate of the union.
Suruj Ali along with associate Sirajul Islam went to Nabir’s house along with a revolver to attack Nabir’s nephew Atikur Rahman.
Sensing danger, Atik informed police.
Later police conducted a drive at the village and arrested them.
