The newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University (DU) Professor Md Akhtaruzzaman on Thursday paid tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing wreaths at his portrait in front of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi-32 in the city.
DU Treasurer Professor Md Kamal Uddin, DU Teachers’ Association (DUTA) President Professor ASM Maksud Kamal, teachers, officers and staff of the university were present on the occasion, said a DU press release.
Earlier, Professor Akhtaruzzaman took over as DU Vice-Chancellor on Wednesday, the release added.
On Monday, President Abdul Hamid, also Chancellor of Dhaka University, appointed him as the DU VC temporarily as per the section 11(2) of the Dhaka University order, 1973.
