A newborn was found dead on a footpath near the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital in Dhaka Friday morning.
The identity of the one-day-old newborn of female sex could not be known until 2:45pm, said police.
Shahbagh police sub-inspector Mohammad Zafar said that they, on information from the locals, recovered the body of the newborn near the DMCH emergency department at about 5:45am on Friday.
He said that they came to know that a dog dragged the body there from elsewhere and that they sent the body to Dhaka Medical College morgue for post-mortem examination.
