Newborn dies at DMCH hours after being rescued

A newborn, which was found on a street near a building in Wari area in the capital on Friday night, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Saturday.
The baby girl died at about 7:00am while undergoing treatment at ward number 211 of the hospital, said inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH police outpost, quoting doctors.
A couple- Jhinuk Rabi Das and Rajendra Rabi Das- found the newborn at about 11:30pm on Friday and rushed her to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
They found the abandoned baby near Navana Tower in Wari area with injuries in her head and back.
The newborn was crying and moving her limbs, Jhinuk told reporters at the hospital.
The couple took the newborn to a hospital in the locality and then rushed her to DMCH.
Wari police station Officer-in-Charge Kabir Hossain suspected that someone might throw the baby from the upper floor of any of the buildings near the spot.
