Local people rescued a newborn baby from beside the Kushtia-Jhenidah highway adjacent to Bottoil intersection of the district town early Sunday.
Hospital sources said local restaurant worker Anwara Begum heard cry of the newborn baby from behind a garage in the area early in the morning while she was going to her workplace.
Later along with other people, she rescued the baby and got it admitted to Kushtia General Hospital.
Taposh Kumar Paul, doctor of the hospital, said the health condition of the baby was all right.
