New Zealand were set 298-run target from 43 overs (D/L method) to win the rain-hit first semi-final of ICC Cricket World Cup against South Africa at Auckland on Tuesday. South Africa scored 281 runs in 43 overs they got due to rain for the loss of 5 wickets after skipper AB de Villiers chose to bat first at Eden Park. The Proteas were 216/3 in 38 runs when rain appeared. Later 7 over were cut from each side and made the match 43 overs per side according to DL method. Faf du Plessis scored 82 runs off 107 balls hitting 7 fours and 1 six before getting out in the second ball after play resumed. The Proteas added 65 runs in the rest of the 5 overs of the match after rain. David Miller smashed 49 runs off 18 balls with 6 fours and 3 sixes. South Africa skipper AB de Villiers was unbeaten on 65 runs. He played only 45 balls and hit 8 fours and a six. Besides, Rossouw added 39 runs more.
