bdnews24.com :Police have arrested the newly elected Upazila Parishad chairman from Rajshahi in cases of violence.Mokhlesur Rahman, a local leader of Jamaat-e-Islami, was elected as chairman of Chapainawabganj Sadar Upazila Parishad recently.Rahman was arrested in front of Parjatan Motel around 10.15am on Tuesday, said Chapainawabganj Sadar Police Station OC Jasim Uddin.He was going to the Rajshahi divisional commissioner’s office to take oath.The Jamaat leader was wanted in nine cases over violence that erupted after the death sentence against the party’s central leader Delwar Hossain Sayedee on Feb 28 last year.Jamaat activists across the country unleashed violence in protest against the verdict ordered by the International Crimes Tribunal against Sayedee for his crimes against humanity in 1971 War of Independence.
