A new trust fund titled ‘Professor Mofizuddin Ahmed-Begum Sufia Ahmed Trust Fund’ has been established at the Department of Chemistry of Dhaka University (DU).
Professor Dr. Nishat Ahmed Pasha, daughter of late Professor Mofizuddin Ahmed handed over a cheque for Taka 15 lakh to DU Treasurer Professor Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin on Wednesday at the Vice-Chancellor’s office to set up the trust fund in memories of her parents.
Out of the income of this donation, every year one meritorious student who will secure the highest CGPA in BS (Hons.) final examination from the Department of Chemistry of DU will be awarded ‘Professor Mofizuddin Ahmed-Begum Sufia Ahmed Gold Medal’. Besides, two more students of the department will be given scholarships.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique thanked the donors for setting up this trust fund at Dhaka University and hoped that the students would be highly benefited and encouraged from this donation.
Dr. Mofizuddin Ahmed was an Emeritus Professor of the Department of Chemistry of Dhaka University. He was born on May 2, 1921 and died on September 26, 1997. Late Begum Sufia Ahmed, wife of late Emeritus Professor Mofizuddin Ahmed was born in 1929 and died in 2000.
