A new Trust Fund styled ‘Professor Dr Anwarullah Chowdhury Trust Fund’ has been established at Anthropology Department of Dhaka University (DU). Mitul Anwar Chowdhury, son of Prof Anwarullah handed over a cheque for Taka 6 lakh to DU Treasurer Prof Mohammad Kamal Uddin on Wednesday at the Vice-Chancellor’s office to establish the fund.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique, Prof Anwarullah Chowdhury, Anthropology Department Chairman Prof Saifur Rashid and DU acting registrar Syed Rezaur Rahman were present on the occasion.
Out of the income of the donation, every year two meritorious students, who will secure the highest marks in BSS (Honours) and Master final examinations from the department, will be awarded ‘Prof Dr Anwarullah Chowdhury Gold Medal’.
Prof Arefin thanked the donor and his family members for establishing the fund at the university and hoped that the students of the department would be highly benefited and encouraged from this donation.
