A new trust fund titled “Tahmina Banu Shilu Trust Fund” has been established at the Public Administration Department of Dhaka University (DU) with a view to helping poor meritorious students of the department.
Professor of DU Economics Department and brother of late Tahmina Banu Shilu, Dr Mohammad Ali Taslim on the eleventh instant handed over a cheque for Taka 25 lakh in a function to the university’s Pro Vice Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Nasreen Ahmad at the VC office on the campus to set up the trust fund.
DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman, Acting Registrar Md Enamuzzaman and some other family members and friends of late Tahmina Banu Shilu were present on the occasion.
Out of the income of the donation, every year two poor but meritorious students (one male and one female student) of the department will be given scholarship.
Addressing the function, Professor Akhtaruzzaman paid his glowing tribute to the memory of late Tahmina and hoped that the poor but meritorious students of the department would be highly benefited by this donation.
