Newly imported 26 railway passenger coaches from Indonesia arrive Chattogram Port on Thursday last in a Panama flag vessel MV Hosi Crown.
The coaches include 5 meter gauge coach with 55 seats, 16 shovan chair coach of 66 seats each, two sleeping coach of 34 baths each, one power car and two dinning car. After delivery from port, these coaches handed over to Railway East zone at Pahartali workshop . Director (Transport) , CPA Enamul Karim told that on priority basis, these coaches were unloaded in Berth No.;12 on Friday which later handed over to the officials of East Zone Railway at Chattogram .
The vessel is expected to depart from Chattogram port yesterday, port sources said.
Railway sources said under the Bangladesh Railway Meter Gauge and Broad Gauge Procurement Project, these coaches were procured from Indonesian govt organisation PT Inka Raiway Industry at a cost of Tk.78 crores.
