Communication Specialist Prof Dr Md Golam Rahman has joined as Pro-Vice Chancellor of Daffodil International University (DIU) on Sunday. Before joining this position, Prof Golam Rahman was the Professor of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism of the University. He started his career as a journalist 1977 and joined Dhaka University as a Lecturer in 1978. He served as Chairman during 1990-93 and 2004-05 in the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, University of Dhaka.
Dr Rahman also served as Head of the Department of Language and Communication Studies of Papua New Guinea University of Technology. He conducted his postdoctoral research as a Senior Fulbright Scholar at the University of Oklahoma, USA He did his Ph.D. in Journalism and Mass Communication from Mysore University, India in 1986, a degree that was the first of its kind offered by an Indian University in this discipline. He secured the first rank and two gold medals for his brilliant results in MA from Mysore University.
He also served the United Nations International Drug Control Programme (UNDCP) as National Media Specialist and intermittently he worked in several international agencies as consultants.
He has published more than 60 research articles in national and international reputed journals. He published and edited 12 books and manuals. Prof Rahman was conferred “Ambassador for Peace” by Universal Peace Federation (UPF) (former IIWFP) New York at a ceremony held in Bangkok in 2001.
