New pro-liberation cultural alliance formed

A new cultural alliance of 36 organizations has been formed being inspired with the ideals of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The announcement of forming ‘Bangali Sangskritik Jote’ was made at a press conference at Jatiya Press Club in the city on Friday.
Jote Convener Saiful Azam Bashar, in a written speech, described the background and necessity of forming the cultural alliance.
He said Bangabandhu’s expected ‘Sonar Bangla’ could be built by establishing a close of indigenous culture with politics.
The reactionary, fundamentalist and militant groups are still big threats to the country’s culture, he said and called for a greater cultural movement to resist those forces.
Bashar said from this viewpoint, 36 pro-liberation cultural groups have been brought on a single platform named ‘Bangali Sangskritik Jote’.
There alliance has 30 eminent cultural personalities as its members.
Among others, Dr. Enamul Haq, Falguni Hamid, Abdul Jabbar, Manoranjanshil Ghoshal, Shibu Roy and Rabindra Gop also spoke at the press conference.
Saiful Azam Bashar said more intending organization could be included in the alliance later.
The alliance will observe Bangabandhu’s Home-Coming Day, Mass Upsurge Day, International Mother Language Day, Bangabandhu’s birthday, May Day, Rabindranath Tagore’s birth anniversary and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Home-Coming Day.
