New Nation’s Executive Editor Sagar Biswas dies

Executive Editor of the New Nation Sagar Biswas died of a massive heart attack on Tuesday afternoon. He was 59.
Sagar Biswas felt sick on the way to his office. Later he was taken to the National Heart Foundation at Mirpur in a critical condition, where on duty doctors declared him dead.
He left behind his wife Prativa Biswas, two sons Sagnik Biswas 16 and Sathik Biswas 14, and a host of relatives, well-wishers and friends to mourn his death.
His body was taken to the New Nation office in the evening to pay last respects by his colleagues. Hearing the demise of Sagar Biswas, Chairman of The Editorial Board and Publisher of the New Nation Barrister Mainul Hosein came to the office and expressed his deep condolence to wife and two sons of Sagar Biswas.
His body was being taken to Chattogram lastnight where he will be cremated at Agrabad’s
Goshaianda Mohashoshan today.
Sagar was the permanent member of Jatiya Press Club (JPC), Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) and Crime Reporters’ Association of Bangladesh (CRAB).
The reporters of DRU and CRAB paid their last respect to the deceased on DRU premises.
Meanwhile, JPC President Farida Yasmin, Secretary Elias Khan, DRU President Nazrul Islam Mithu and General Secretary Nurul Islam, in separate statements condoled the death of Sagar Biswas and sent messages of sympathy to the bereaved family.
Earlier, Sagar Biswas worked in the now defunct the Bangladesh Observer.
