Md Mokarram Hossain has been appointed as the Editor of The New Nation. Before being appointed as editor, he was the Executive Editor of this daily.
Earlier, Mr Hossain worked as the Managing Editor of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), a national news agency. He also worked in The Independent and The Financial Express in various capacities.
Masters in Political Science from the University of Karachi in 1970, he started his journalism career in the Pakistan Press International (PPI) in Karachi office. After the independence, he joined Bangladesh Press International (BPI) in Dhaka, formerly PPI. In 1974, BPI was merged with the BSS.
He participated in different training programmes on journalism abroad.
He comes from a respectable Muslim family of Bogura district.
