New Nation Editor A.M. Mufazzal dies

Editor of The New Nation A.M. Mufazzal passed away on Saturday evening. He was 87.
The renowned journalist A.M. Mufazzal breathed his last at his Uttara residence in the capital at 6:40 pm.
His health condition was deteriorating speedily in last several days. He was suffering from dementia and other old age complications. His wife died several years ago. His only son Razib was caring for him.
The deceased left behind only son and a host of relatives, well-wishers, friends and well-wishers to mourn his death.
During his long career as editor and news editor of different newspapers he created hundreds of journalists.
A man of great personality, A.M. Mufazzal was born in a respectable Muslim family of Dhanbari in Tangail.
A.M. Mufazzal was the permanent member of the National Press Club.
He achieved his Honours and Masters Degree in Political Science from Dhaka University. After completing his masters, he started journalism at The Bangladesh Observer and then The Daily Mail.
Later, he became Editor of now defunct The Bangladesh Times, The Morning Sun and The Daily News. He also worked as Adviser Editor of The Bangladesh Observer, The Independent and the renowned weekly medical journal The Pulse, and News Editor of The morning News.
A.M. Mufazzal was close associate of late renowned Editors Abdus Salam and ABM Musa. He visited different countries and got training from various international institutions, including the Commonwealth and the United Nations.
His first Namaz-e-janaza will be held at the National Press Club premises at 11:00am today (Sunday) where fellow journalists will show their last respect to him.
The second janaza will be held at Uttara sector- 4 Masjid after Johr prayers. Later, he will be laid for eternal rest at the nearby graveyard.
