New mosque of Barishal University opens for prayer

The newly constructed central mosque of Barishal University was inaugurated by offering Asr prayers yesterday.
The mosque was inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Md. Sadekul Arefin. Among others, deans, registrars, proctors, teachers, students, chairmen of different departments, directors, department heads, officials, employees, leaders of various associations of the university, officials of the Department of Education Engineering including local worshipers and contractors of mosque construction companies were present.
After offering prayers at the newly constructed mosque, the Vice-Chancellor paid homage to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and said, “Barisal University is a university of the dream of the Father of the Nation. His dream has been realized by his worthy daughter Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.” He expressed his gratitude to Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The Vice-Chancellor prayed for the forgiveness of the souls of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and other members of his family who were martyred on 15 August 1975 and all those killed in the grenade attack on 21 August 2004. The three-storied mosque, which is adorned with modern architectural style, can accommodate 2,500 worshipers in the congregation. The construction of the mosque has cost around seven core taka. The construction work of this central mosque started in January 2016.
