The High Court on Tuesday granted anticipatory bail to 14 BNP leaders and activists for six weeks in connection with two cases filed over the clashes between the Dhaka College students and the traders in New Market area.
The bench of Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and Justice Md Salim passed the orders following three separate petitions filed by the accused seeking bail in the cases which were lodged on charges of preventing police from discharging duties.
The High Court, however, asked the accused to surrender before the lower court concerned in or before six weeks.
Earlier in the day, the accused petitioners including New Market Thana Juba Dal President Amir Hossain appeared before the HC bench for bail.
