A new land customs station (LCS) was inaugurated at Srimantapur in the Indian state of Tripura on January 6.
Indian Minister of State for Commerce & Industry Nirmala Sitharaman along with Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar opened the LCS, an Indian High Commission press release said here yesterday.
“The LCS is located at Sonamura, Sepahijala district, Tripura on the India-Bangladesh border,” the release said, adding the corresponding LCS on the Bangladesh side is Bibirbazar (Chittagong Commissionerate).
Srimantapur is the second LCS developed by the State Government of Tripura bordering Bangladesh.
“It would have facilities for fast customs clearance, parking lots for trucks, etc. to facilitate two-way trade between India and Bangladesh,” the release added.
