During his visit, he took some pictures of the scene and talked to eyewitnesses.
At that time an eyewitness showed to the new Investigation Officer (IO) how did the body of Major (Rtd) Sinha fall down after he was shot by police lying on the ground.
Earlier, he tried to understand the position of Sinha Rashed during the incident by making a body shape bricks too.
Even parked a private car and made the symbolic position of Rashed’s car. He tried to understand the location of the barricades at the APBN checkpost during the time of incident.
Many locals came forward seeing the investigation team.
At this time, Khairul Islam, the Investigation Officer, asked them to provide information without fear and hesitation.
In an informal conversation, Senior ASP Khairul Islam said that he was working to bring out the real facts of the incident. He said, “I am working to unearth the real facts so that the criminal cannot be acquitted.”
Meanwhile, as part of investigation into the killing of Major (Retd) Sinha Md Rashed Khan in police firing, a public hearing will be held in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar today Sunday, with the participation of witnesses.
The probe body formed by the Home Ministry will hold the public hearing at Shamlapur under Baharchhara union from 10am.
Committee member and Additional District Magistrate of Cox’s Bazar Shajahan Ali said they would hear the witnesses of the incident of the day.
Earlier investigating report of an intelligence agency revealed that Teknaf and Ramu police stations of Cox’s Bazar neither found any yaba pill nor cannabis from the private car of Major (Retd) Sinha Md Rashed Khan.
They did not find it in the rooms of Sinha and his companions at the resort in Himchhori either, agency investigation report added.
An investigation team of the agency prepared the report after visiting the crime scene and the nearby area.
The eight-page report reads that the investigation team also visited the rooms of Nilima Resort where Sinha and his co-travellers had been staying since early July.
“No sign of yaba use was found in these rooms. Rather, the team found 800 yaba pills from Teknaf Police Station Officer-in-Charge Pradeep Kumar Das’ almirah. And the pills looked like the 50 yaba pills, mentioned in the case statement, that police claimed to have seized,” the report says.
Cox’s Bazar Superintendent of Police (SP) ABM Masud Hossain declined to make any comment on the report.
Cox’s Bazar Additional Superintendent (Administration) of Police Iqbal Hossain also refrained from making any comment.
The intelligence agency investigation report also makes note of the fact that Sinha’s pistol and holster were found very smooth and clean. “That also makes it clear that the claim by the police that Sinha first pulled his pistol is wrong.”
Sinha was killed in police firing at Baharchhara police check-post in Teknaf upazila on July 31.
His elder sister Sharmin Shahriar Ferdous filed a case with Teknaf Senior Judicial Magistrate Court on August 5.
