47 kids of two crocodiles born: New guests come to Artificial Crocodile Breeding Centre in Sundarba

Some 47 kids of two mother crocodiles’ saw the sunlight of the earth in the artificial Crocodile Breeding Centre in Chandpai range at Karomjal in the Sundarbans on Sunday.
The new guests were released in rearing pan of the generating centre on Monday, forest division sources said.
Zakir Hossain, Officer- In -Charge of the wildlife generating centre at Karomjal said, two mother crocodiles named Julliet and Pilpill hatched on 50 and 48 eggs respectively on May 20, this year. Among them 47 kids came out of the eggs. The remaining 51 eggs were damaged. However, after keeping 24 hours incentive care, the kids were released on Monday in the rearing pan of the generating centre, Zakir Hossain added.
From this generating centre, crocodiles are released at Dulahajra safari park, Bangabandhu safari park, Patuakhali forest division and different canals and rivers in Sundarbans.
Forest division sources further said, with a view to increase generating and preserving some rare species crocodiles of salty water, with the assistance of the government, the forest division built the tourism centre, i, e, the crocodile generating centre at Karomjal in the Sundarbans in 2002.
This centre was established on 8 acres of land, expending taka 32 lakh under the ‘Bio diversity conservation project’. The generating centre started with only 5 salty water crocodiles, collected from local fishermen. At present, one male crocodile named Romeo and two female crocodiles named Julliet and Pilpill are staying at this centre. From 2005 to 2016, 439 out of 723 eggs gave kids. Julliet and Pilpill laid and hatched the eggs.
