A new gold medal titled “Faizunnessa-Kabiruddin Rahmani Memorial Foundation Gold Medal” has been introduced at the Department of Geography & Environment of Dhaka University (DU).
Chairperson of Geography and Environment Department of DU Prof Hafiza Khatun handed over a cheque for Taka 5 lakh to DU Treasurer Prof M Kamal Uddin on Monday at the Vice-Chancellor’s office to introduce the gold medal in memories of her parents.
Vice-Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique, former Chairman of the Department of Geography and Environment Prof M Abdur Rob, Prof AQM Mahbub, others faculty members and family members of the donor were present on this occasion.
Out of the income of this donation, every year one meritorious student who will secure the highest CGPA in BS (Hons) final examination from the department will be awarded the medal.
Prof Arefin thanked the donor for introducing this gold medal at university and hoped that the students would be highly benefited and encouraged from this donation.
He urged the alumni of the university as well as the rich people of the society to come forward with their helping hands for promoting education and research activities in the country.
