A new gold medal titled ‘Lion Md. Jonab Ali and Farzana Jonab Gold Medal’ has been introduced at the Department of information science and Library Management of Dhaka University (DU). Chairman of Imran Group Lion Md. Jonab Ali handed over a cheque for tk. 10 lakh to DU Treasurer Prof Dr Md. Kamal Uddin on Tuesday at the Vice-Chancellor’s office to introduce the gold medal.
Vice-Chancellor of DU Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique, Dean of the Faculty of Arts Prof Dr Md. Akhtaruzzaman, Chairman of the Department of Information Science and Library Management Prof Dr Muhammad Mezbah-ul-Islam, some faculty members, Chairman and Managing Director of Nippon Group Engr Mohabbat Ullah, Chief Executive of Development Link Bangladesh Ltd, Dr Abul Hossain, Chairman of Board Audit Committee of Bank Asia Mohammed Lakiotullah, Deputy General Manager of Uttara Bank Ltd, KM Islam Titu, General Secretary of Eco Friends Noaman Ullah Bahar, Deputy Project Director of BSMMU Dr. Rehena Akter and family members of the donor were present on the occasion.
Out of the income of this donation, every year one meritorious student who will secure the highest CGPA in BA (Hons.) final examination from the Department of Information Science and Library Management of DU will be awarded ‘Lion Md. Jonab Ali and Farzana Jonab Gold Medal’.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique thanked the donor for introducing this gold medal at Dhaka University and hoped that the students would be highly benefited and encouraged from this donation. He urged the alumni of the university as well as the rich people of the society to come forward with their helping hands for promoting education and research in the country.
