Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Begum Rawshan Ershad called upon the new generation to acquire technical education to develop skills.
“Technical education is essential for developing skills,” she said this on Friday while speaking as chief guest at the closing session of the 21st national conference of Institute of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh (IDEB) at IDEB Bhaban in the city.
Rawshan said there is no alternative to technical education to turn the country’s manpower into human resources. Unskilled manpower cannot bring dynamism in national production and earn expected remittance from abroad, she observed.
The opposition leader stressed the need for a planned use of agriculture land to save the rural Bangladesh and the agriculture sector.
The country will march forward with the concerted efforts of all, she hoped and urged the government to be sincere to implement professional demands of the diploma engineers.
Earlier, a seminar on ‘Planned Villages and Housing: Save Agriculture Land, Food Security Context’ was held as part of the conference.
IDEB President AKMA Hamid presided over the conference.
