State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid on Friday urged the new generation to be worthy citizens imbued with the ideology and spirit of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
“Today’s children are the artisans of building the future-country. The state is looking at the new generation so that they can be worthy and good citizens of the future and devote themselves to building the country. They have to come forward following the life style and spirit of Father of the Nation,” he said.
The state minister was speaking as the chief guest at a quiz competition and prize distribution function organized by Barishal district administration on the occasion of ‘Historic 7th March’ Day celebration at Barishal District Shilpakala Academy auditorium , a press release said, reports BSS.
With Acting Deputy Commissioner of Barishal Md Shahidul Islam in the chair, the event was addressed, among others, by cultural personality and freedom fighter M Hamid, Deputy Commissioner (south) of Barishal Metropolitan Police (BMP) Ali Ashraf Bhuiyan, Barishal District Awami League General Secretary Talukdar Md Yunus and freedom fighter KSA Mohiuddin Manik.
Later, the state minister distributed prizes among the winners of the quiz competition and visited the traditional Barishal Public Library.
Besides, Khalid also inaugurated the Barishal Divisional Pitha Festival-2022 on the premises of Barishal District Shilpakala Academy.
