South Korea and Bangladesh are working jointly to open a new era in the production of rice in the country to meet the growing food demand. The scientists from both the countries have been researching on cold-tolerant rice screening protocols, manual carrier, harvesting machines, rice mill, direct seeding and crop cutting machines, said Dr Durrul Huda, PSO of BRRI.

Agency (KOICA) have provided the necessary support in this regard.Scientists and concerned officers of Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI) had already taken training in South Korea about the related technologies. They said that it was the demand of time to use modern machinery in agriculture. To fulfill that demand, scientists of South Korea and Bangladesh have been working together. About two thousand screenings have already been done to develop cold tolerant rice varieties, Dr Durrul said.
They expect to develop cold tolerant rice varieties soon and it may usher a new era in developing farm machinery in our country.
