Forest officials in Chittagong discovered another elephant corridor at Anwara uapzila on Saturday.
According to IUCN (International Union for Conversation of Nature), there are 13 corridors for elephants in Cox’s Bazar and Chittagong. “On Friday, an elderly man died in an attack by elephants. Yesterday [Saturday] we visited the spot and inspected the place of the incident, and found the new corridor while tracking the steps of the elephant to ensure exactly where it came from,” SM Golam Mowla, divisional forest officer (wildlife and nature conservation), said.
The new corridor starts from Mohadebpur of Boirag union and goes along the Barkhain union passing by Gibasi High School. From there, it goes through Hazirhat, crosses Katakhali canal to go through Barungchora union, and ends at hilly areas of Bashkhali upazila.
