The newly appointed Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and his four deputies assume office on Wednesday after taking oath.
Soon after being sworn in, CEC KM Nurul Huda and the election commissioners will also hold a press conference at 5pm at the Election Commission Bhaban in the city’s Agargaon area, Director (PR) at the EC Secretariat SM Asaduzzaman told UNB on Tuesday.
Earlier, they will be sworn in at the Supreme Court Judges’ Lounge at 3pm. Chief Justice Surendra Kumnmar Sinha will administrate the oath.
On February 6 last, President Abdul Hamid reconstituted the five-member Election Commission (EC) making former secretary KM Nurul Huda the CEC, as the tenure of the Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad-led Commission expired.
The four election commissioners are former additional secretary Mahbub Talukder, former secretary Md Rafiqul Islam, former district and sessions judge Kabita Khanam and Brig Gen (retd) Shahadat Hossain Chowdhury.
