New deputy commissioners (DC) have been appointed to six districts, including the Chittagong Hill Tracts, in a recent administrative shuffle.
The public administration ministry on Sunday also shuffled offices of three secretaries.
The Prime Minister’s Deputy Press Secretary Bijon Lal Deb has been transferred to Bangladesh Mission in New York as the first secretary.
Md Mijanul Haq Chowdhury, personal secretary to the state minister for finance, will replace KN Tariqul Islam as Bandarban DC.
Islam has been transferred to the relief ministry.
Rangamati DC Md Mostofa Kamal will take the place of Khulna DC Anis Mahmood, who has been moved to the Economic Relations Division (ERD).
ERD Deputy Secretary Md Shamsul Arefin will take over as Rangamati DC.
Khagrhachharhi DC Md Masud Karim has been transferred to the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment. He will be replaced by Dhaka’s Diara Settlement Officer Muhammad Wahiduzzaman.
Religious affairs ministry’s Deputy Secretary Md Jahangir Alam will take over from Md Shukur Ali as Bagerhat DC. Ali has been sent to the Ministry of Environment and Forest.
