The Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court of Dhaka yesterday deferred the hearing in the case in connection with the death of two students of Shaheed Ramijuddin Cantonment College of the city to April 29, as no witness was present in the court to testify in the case on Tuesday.
Judge AKM Imrul Kayes of the court fixed the new.
Earlier on April 3, the court fixed Tuesday (April 23) to record the statements of the witnesses.
Two Jabal-e-Noor Paribahan buses of the city allegedly raced with each other moments before one of them ploughed into a crowd killing two Shaheed Ramijuddin college students in the capital’s Kurmitola area on July 29, last year.
The six accused, who have been charged in the case are bus drivers Masum Billah and Zafar Hossain Sumon, their assistants Md Enayet Hossain and Kazi Asad and bus owners-Shahadat Hossain and Md Jahangir Alam.
Of the accused, bus owner Jahangir Alam and driver’s assistant Kazi Asad have been on the run while other accused persons are behind the bar.
On October 22, last year, the court accepted the charge-sheet of the case and started the case framing charge against the accused on October 25.
