New Chinese envoy presents credentials to President

New Chinese ambassador to Bangladesh Ma Mingqiang presented his credentials to President Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban on Monday.
Welcoming the envoy, the President thanked China for its continued assistance and support for various key development projects in Bangladesh, President’s press secretary Ihsanul Karim told UNB. Abdul Hamid appreciated the Chinese government’s assurance of importing more jute and jute products from Bangladesh in order to reduce trade gap between the two countries.
The President underscored that Bangladesh looks forward to the establishment of overland connectivity with China through Myanmar. When Abdul Hamid referred to the existing trade gap between the two countries the ambassador said Chinese investment to Bangladesh could help reduce the trade gap.
The President recalled his recent visit to China and said he had fruitful discussion with the Chinese President and the vice-president. Ma Mingqiang assured that China would continue support for the economic development of Bangladesh.
