M M Jasim :
Thirty-five new books arrived on the 2nd day of Amar Ekushey Boi Mela on Monday. Most of the visitors were curious about the new arrivals at the fair.
Many of the visitors complained about mismanagement and they were annoyed as many stalls at the fair ground were yet to sort out their books still found piled up on the passages.
Security measures were high on the day. The police frisked everyone with metal detectors at the entrances.
The Rapid Action Battalion members were on patrol in and outside the fair ground.
Many of the stalls were found closed and at least four of them did not even have signboards while some stall owners were found busy decorating their stalls.
Many discussions were held at the Bangla Academy premises. A fascinating cultural festival was also held in the evening.
Today the academy will organise a seminar ‘Shat Bochore Bangla Academy’, Shahida Khatun Jotiprokash Dutta, Bhuiyan Ikbal, Dr Karunamoy Ghoshwami and Saifuddin Chowdhury will take part in discussion.
The seminar will be presided over by Professor Emeritus Rafiqul Islam. A cultural programme will be held later.
