Law Minister Advocate Anisul Huq on Thursday handed over the latest version of the Bangladesh Code to the Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain.
At 3.30 pm yesterday, the Law Minister went to the Chief Justice’s office and gave him the recently published copy of the Code, a press release of the Law Ministry said.
This Bangladesh Code, published in 42 volumes,
contains all the Regulations, President Orders, Acts and Ordinances made from 1799 to June 2014. Its total number is 1085.
According to Section 6 of the Bangladesh Laws Restoration and Declaration Act, 1973, there is a need to publish all the existing laws in Bangladesh as per chronological and consistently updated in the form of ‘Bangladesh Code’.
First Bangladesh Code was published in 1980. And it was published for the second time in 2007. Finally, an initiative was taken in 2013 to update the Bangladesh Code with the association of UNDP. The government recently published this code with updated laws.
